Our Porting Department is Announcing New Changes

2014 is going to bring about some huge changes for our Porting Department! We kicked off our 2014 Annual Plan today and one of the big announcements was that the Department began using a new system where there is one Porting Representative assigned to a port. The Department will also be adjusting their core business hours to 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. starting in January.

The new Rep system was put in place to make the Porting Department run more efficiently and to create longer lasting relationships with our customers. Each port will be randomly assigned to one of the Porting Reps and that Rep will handle the entire port from start to finish.

The system that our Porting Department followed in the past required each port to be split based on the different stages it needed to go through. Each stage of the process would pass through a different person, sometimes causing things to be done incorrectly. By having one Rep take the port through its entire lifecycle, we are ultimately reducing the amount of possible errors that could surface during the porting process.

“This just makes sense for our department,” said Porting Manager, Barry Yancosek. “Since we’ve realized the benefits of having one Porting Rep per port, the possibilities for this department are endless.”

Nothing else about this department has changed, other than only having to deal with one person for a port instead of multiple people. If a customer is interested is seeing who their Porting Rep is, they can view it in their BackOffice account under the Porting Details menu. We would also like to mention that Project Porting (50 or more ports) procedures will also remain the same.

This is just the beginning for our Porting Department. The team is building stronger relationships with our customers and completing ports more efficiently than ever. Ports may be randomly assigned to Reps right now, but since we’re always looking at the next great thing we can do, we’re planning on allowing customers to choose their favorite Porting Rep in the future!
