Mobile telephone technology has seen many advancements in the recent years, which has transformed this technology into a user friendly and efficient way of communication. One such technological advancement is VoIP technology. This technology came into existence due to the internet boom, but with the advent of smartphones, VoIP technology has integrated with mobile technology in a superb way.

What is VoIP?

VoIP is an acronym for “Voice over Internet Protocol.” This technology is also referred to as Internet Telephony or IP Telephony. The biggest benefit of this technology is that it allows you to make calls at cheap rates and sometimes completely free. Many times there is no phone present while communicating with this technology, as it allows you to communicate without the need of a telephone set.

The importance of VoIP technology for common people.

Although, there are many advantages of using VoIP technology for communication, the main reason for its popularity is the cheap costs associated with the use of this technology. Lower cost of communication is achieved by this technology due to various reasons, but the most prominent ones are mentioned below.

Doesn’t require a phone: If you have a computer that has speakers and a microphone, then you don’t need a phone to make your calls. All you need is a reliable internet connection, and you can start communicating by using VoIP. However, you can use this technology with your home and mobile phones also. Therefore, this can help you make calls without making you spend extra on communication hardware.

Uses an existing internet connection: VoIP transmits the sound using the IP protocol and thus you can make calls from the existing internet infrastructure. Therefore, you don’t need to spend any additional money, if you have an internet connection. The only cost of making calls is your monthly internet bill. Therefore, it doesn’t matter whether you call a sky contact phone number or your friend's phone, because you have to pay only for the minimum applicable charges.

The role of VoIP in upcoming mobile technology.

Guest Post: The Role of VoIP in Upcoming Mobile TechnologyWith the emergence of mobile VoIP technology, it’s showing potential to transform the existing mobile communications industry. With the advent of low latency LTE technology, it’s expected that latency problems in the mobile VoIP would get resolved. However, there are some other latest developments in the mobile technology market, which have improved the chances of mobile VoIP technology getting mass acceptance among users.

Support from latest devices: The capabilities of the latest smartphones will provide support in the growth of mobile VoIP. Additionally, technology innovations like low powered single chip radios, which are integrated with VoIP protocol stacks, large scale centralized Wi-Fi infrastructure and devices that have a multimedia terminal integrated in them, are a few devices that point towards a promising future of mass acceptance of mobile VoIP.

Support from mobile companies: Several mobile companies are leaving the conventional contract structure, which they offered for mobile wireless plans, and as a result this will boost the use of mobile VoIP. Additionally, interconnection of mobile network environments with fixed network environments will provide further growth to this technology.

Conclusion

Mobile VoIP technology has a bright future ahead, and experts believe that it is expected to generate a revenues of $32 billion in the future. Therefore, it’s no surprise that many companies are entering this business with innovative plans for their customers.
