Welcome back to the VoIP Innovations Blog for another Chat with Nat! There have been some exciting things going on in the office this week and we can’t wait to share it all with you.

Before I get into all that exciting news, I want to give you a little recap of the blog articles that were posted on the VoIP Innovations Blog this week. The first was called Turning a Flood of Big Data into Business Intelligence. If you’re working in the Telecommunications industry and you aren’t familiar with Big Data, then it’s time to do some research! To give you a basic background, Big Data is the broad term that describes complex data sets. The point of using Big Data is so that you can better analyze your business and your customers. What some people might not know is that VoIP and Big Data are longtime partners. If you take a look at this article, you’ll understand why.

The second article that we posted on our blog this week featured best practices that you can employ to help protect you against cyber-attacks such as Heartbleed. The Heartbleed bug hit in April and it had a devastating outcome. To make sure your business can withstand a cyber-attack of this magnitude, you have you to be prepared. Unfortunately, no matter how much protection you think you have there is no security measure that can protect your information 100%.

Next week on our blog, we’ll feature an article on VoIP and Online Education. Online course providers who are struggling with high rates of attrition can learn how VoIP helps in creating better courses in this article.

Now that we’ve shared the blog post that landed on the VoIP Innovations blog this week, let’s get into some other exciting company news. First off, I want to mention that we are going to be at the 2014 ITEXPO in Las Vegas in August. We’ve begun our planning for this and we can’t wait to get together with others in the Telecommunications industry. As always, we’ll have free VIP Passes available in our BackOffice so our customers can attend the show and meet us in person. The VoIP Innovations booth will be #413. Please make sure to stop by and chat with our team and also take home some awesome schwag from our table. We look forward to seeing you there!

I mentioned in last week’s Chat with Nat that we have an opening in our Technical Services Department. We’re still accepting applications for this position, so if you’re interested in working as part of our support team, don’t hesitate to send your resume to sharonk@abgcapital.com.

How to Ensure a Smooth PortTo wrap up this week’s post, I have a fantastic announcement to make. One of our VoIP Innovations Porting Representatives has received a promotion that will go into effect on Monday June 2, 2014. That employee is Trichelle Barish and she will be the new Porting Coordinator. Trichelle has only been with us since October, but the amount of knowledge she has gained in that short time has been impressive. I had the chance to chat with Barry Yancosek, the Provisioning Manger, about this promotion and he said that Trichelle has been his “right-hand man” for a while now. She’s the type of worker who catches mistakes and fixes them without hesitation, who supports her co-workers and who always puts the customer first. According to Barry, “she has a certain finesse when it comes to dealing with vendors and customers. Trichelle understands the importance of following through with her projects and she knows how to get things done right.” The entire Porting Department is full of talented individuals, which made this decision very hard, but Trichelle has proven her ability to be a leader and succeed in the Porting Coordinator position. Congratulations and good luck in your new position!

As always, thanks for stopping by the VoIP Innovations Blog to check out your weekly Chat with Nat. Have a great weekend!
