Yesterday we wrapped up another fantastic year of TADHack Global! We want to extend a huge thank you to the location leaders, participants, and other sponsors who made this possible. Also, thanks to Alan Quayle for organizing the entire event!

We saw a great turnout in the eight locations plus our remote participants, and the ingenuity we saw in the hacks was quite impressive. However, we had to narrow it down to the best of the best. Here are the top three hacks who utilized VoIP Innovations and Apidaze technologies:

  • VoIP Innovations at TADHack Global 20191st Place – Automaton: Used VI voice APIs to trigger an acceptance call back to the user once the payment has been completed.
    • Team Member: Viacheslav Oleinik
    • Hack Summary: 20% of tourists in Amsterdam come from outside the Schengen Zone, and it's costly for them to use roaming data. If they want to use a service based on a QR code either, they can't, or it's too expensive. Thanks to the NFC solution of Automaton, the connection, and the payment goes via the connected device itself through the suppliers' infrastructure. Users don't have to use connected devices (bike rental, connected steps...). By using VI voice APIs, the supplier makes a confirmation call to users, which also doesn't cost the user anything.

  • 2nd Place – Utenz: Used VI SMS as their primary communications feature to allow users to communicate with each other to talk about healthy eating.
    • Team Members: Vishal Chandrasekaran, Ryan Zheng, Pavan Pandurangi, Jihoon Park
    • Hack Summary: Utenz is a dieting and food-tracking app that promotes healthy living, eating, and connection.

  • 3rd Place ($400)– Tech Buddy: Used VI voice APIs exclusively to connect geniuses with each other.
    • Team Members: Will Brickner, Dechen Tsechen
    • Hack Summary: Tech Buddy allows geniuses to talk to each other for free through a simple phone call. It matches people based on their skill level.
